Do What You Can Day 2024
For this year’s Do What You Can Day, Tamworth branch chose to work with St Giles’ Hospice to create an outdoor seating area for residents, visitors and staff to relax and enjoy.
Thanks to design work by the Technical Support Team and UK Test Lab, the groundwork was prepared on site ready for our teams on the day. Braving the November cold, 21 volunteers from teams across the business gathered on site, ready and willing to support this cause that is close to so many of our hearts.
The team worked tirelessly to upgrade the outdoor space. The patio was cleaned, hedges and shrubs were cut back, the lawn mowed and a new flowerbed created, whilst a new pergola, table and benches were constructed under the expert direction of the team from the Lab, and painted by the team.
Managing Director Cyndi Chandler enjoyed her first UK Do What You Can Day: “Do What You Can Day is super important to me personally. I think it’s something that companies should do to give back to their communities – it strengthens our relationships within the communities, and also with our employees. It’s been so much fun today getting to know different people that work in our company, spending time with them, and we’re all out here to do a good thing and to give back.”
Ashleigh Mills from St. Giles Hospice, thanked the team for their much valued work on the day: “Thank you from everybody at St Giles Hospice for coming along today to help build this beautiful pergola and to help clean up our green spaces. This centre in Sutton Coldfield means such a huge amount to the community, and this is going to be much loved over the coming months, next summer and into the future. Thank you genuinely so much, it really means a lot to us.”
